“Sırtını
güneşe çevirirsen gölgenden başka bir şey göremezsin” Halil Cibran
Tasarım özünde yaratıcı bir enerjiyi, inovasyon bilinmez fırsatların yeniliklerle
vücut bulmasını, gelecek ise tasarım ve inovasyon ile beraber
çıkılan sonsuz bir yolculuğu tarif eder benim düşüncelerimde; tabii ki geçmiş
bilgilerin ışığında, güncel donanımlarla…
Ayçiçeği
ve Apollo’nun mitolojik hikayesi kadar dokunaklı olmasa da güneşe dönen, onunla
beslenen ve besleyen; aldığı enerjiyi dönüştürerek doğal bir mucize yaratan
ayçiçekleri gibi tasavvur ediyorum tasarım öğrencilerimiz ile
sanayicilerimizi… onlar gibi güneşe doyumsuz, onlar gibi enerji depolayan,
dönüştüren ve yaşam zincirinde yeni halkalar üreten...
“Sırtını
güneşe çevirirsen gölgenden başka bir şey göremezsin” sözünde ne güzel ifade etmiş Halil
Cibran, gölgelere baka kalmanın aldatıcı fakat varlığı yok eden kibrini...
Sanayi ve üniversitelerin bilim ve teknoloji ile ilişkilerinde de
anlamını buluyor bu söz: yüzünü bilime / teknolojiye döndürmeyen sanayiler ve
üniversiteler, ne kadar böbürlenseler de sonunda kavrulup yok olmaya
mahkumdurlar; birbirleri ile ayrışmadan, bir tarladaki her bir ay çiçeği gibi
tek vücut olmak, hep birlikte ve uyum içinde davranmak, bilim ve teknolojiden
gözlerini ayırmadan işbirliği içinde çalışmak / üretmek zorundadırlar. Doğaldır
ki aynı tarlanın ürünleri birbirlerinin aynısı olmayacaklardır, farklı
tarlalardaki ürünler de birbirlerine hiç benzemeyeceklerdir fakat hiç şüphe yok
ki hiçbir tarla toptan kavrulup kurumayacaktır.
Öğrenci
iken tasarım-sanayi ilişkisinin önemi ve zorunluluğunu üniversite sıralarında
tecrübe eden, çalışma hayatında değerini anlayan ve devlet politikaları
kapsamında teşviki için sayfalarca makale yazan bir endüstriyel tasarımcı
olarak, VIKO desteği ve öncülüğünde sanayi ile üniversiteler arasında bir köprü
olmayı kendime görev edindim.
Üçüncüsünü
gerçekleştirdiğimiz bu birliktelikler arasında –diğer okulların anlayışına
sığınarak- en anlamlısını da kendi mezun olduğum okul ile gerçekleştirdiğimin
altını çizmek istiyorum.
Vizyoner
bir firma olan VIKO A.Ş’nin ve vizyoner bir kurum olan Marmara GSF Endüstri
Ürünleri Tasarımı Bölümü’nün yenilikçiliğe açık yaklaşımlarının sonucu olarak
“deneyim ve yaratıcılığın” buluştuğu bir sinerji platformu oluştu. Ülkemiz için
güzel bir örnek oluşturan, gurur ve mutluluk kaynağı bu çalışmada emeği geçenlere
teşekkür etmeyi borç biliyorum:
Sanayi –
Üniversite İşbirliği projemiz için imkan sağlayan ve destekleyen Genel
Müdürümüz Nusret K. Apaydın’a, Arge Merkezi Direktörümüz Orhan Ünal ve Ar-Ge
Müdürümüz Çiğdem Yürür’e, projenin gerçekleşmesinde büyük emekleri olan Savaş
Kalaça’ya ve İlker Çelik’e; yaratıcı tasarımları için proje öğrencilerimize, bu
tasarımların yaratıcılık kodlarını kendilerine işlemiş olan başta Endüstri
Ürünleri Tasarımı Bölüm Başkanı Arslan Özbiçer olmak üzere emeği geçen öğretim
üyelerimize teşekkürler ederim.
Özellikle,
şirketimizin Ar-Ge faaliyetlerinde önümüzü açan, teşvik eden,
destekleyen, tecrübeleri ile bizlere her zaman liderlik eden Sn. Cahit
Durmaz’a gönülden teşekkürlerimi sunuyorum.

“You see nothing but your shadow if you turned your
back to the sun”. (Khalil Gibran)
In my conception, whilst the design in its essence describes that creative
energy, in a similar manner innovation describes the coming into existence of
the unknown opportunities in revelations, and the future describes that ever ending perpetual
voyage that the design and innovation have set off together… of course, in the
light of the knowledge from the past coupled with those current hardware.
Though it may not be or seem to be as poignant as the
mythological story of the Sunflower and Apollon, I envisage both, our design
students and our industrialist, as the sunflowers that turned themselves toward
the sunlight in order to be nourished and to nourish; thus creating a natural
magic by transposing all that energy so had and given.
How fantastically expresses Gibran of that ‘deceiving
and existence-destroying feeling of arrogance that one perceives when one
stands in bewilderment staring at the clouds’ when he says “You see nothing
but your shadow if you turned your back to the sun”. Indeed, that phrase
comes very much alive in terms of the relationship of the science &
technology with the industry & universities: industries and
universities insisting not to turn their faces toward the science and
technology are bound to scorch out only to vanish eventually… no matter how
much they boasted! Therefore, just like that each and every sunflower plant in
a field, they must become as one; acting in total harmony and working,
producing and manufacturing in coordination with one another never taking their
eyes off the science and technology. Let alone the produce had from different
fields are bound to be completely different than one another, even no two
produce had from the very same field are going to be the same, either. However,
what is certain is that no fields there are to scorch and vanish!
As an industrial designer who experienced that
necessity and importance of design and industry and acknowledged the actual
value of that in her professional and wrote many pages of articles for the
encouragement of the same under and by state policies, I took it on as a duty
with the support of VIKO to bridge that very gap between the industry and the
universities.
I would like to take this opportunity, by the virtue
of this third meting of ours, to actually underline the most meaningful of all
those meetings that I have had with the college I grautated from –of course,
with the kind permission of all other colleges.
As a result of that open-to-innovative approach of
VIKO INC. as a visionary firm and again as a visionary institution Faculty of
Fine Arts, Department of Industrial Products Design at University of Marmara
again as a visionary institution, a platform of synergy where “experience and
creativity” has now been formed.
I hereby extend my sincere gratitude and thank to our
General Manager Mr. Nusret K. Apaydın who gave his support and provided us with
much needed assistance, our R&D Centre Director Mr. Orhan Ünal and
R&D Manager Mrs. Çiğdem Yürür, as well as to Mr. Savaş Kalaça and İlker
Çelik who have helped us in realisation of this meeting, to all our students
for their most creative designs, and of course, to our Mr. Arslan Özbiçer; the
Head of Industrial Products Design Department who has woven our students with
the codes of creativity for all of those designs here, and to all other
lecturers.
And, last but not least, I also sincerely thank to Mr.
Cahit Durmaz; who has paved the way at our firm for R&D activities and,
encouraged and supported us by sharing his valuable experience with us.
